Here is
a note from Elaine's son, Danny Flaherty....
"Dear Friends. Thank you for the prayers and condolences. Seeing how
many of you had thoughts and prayers for my mother and family was helpful.
There will be an informal and small gathering in her memory at the Fountain
City Art Center here in Knoxville. The Art Center was one of moms passions in
her retirement. She asked that donations be made to the Fountain City Art
Center Children's Art program in lieu of any flowers. Thank you again for
your thoughts in this difficult time."
The Roswell High School Class of 1961 is sending a donation to the Children's
Art fund of the Fountain City Art Center, 213 Hotel Rd, Knoxville,

family.
Thank you Patty Dodson Johnson, Barringer's Blossom Shop in Roswell.

Sharon Dutch passed away on April
3, 2015
"....It is with
great sadness that Sharon Dutch Carr Leamon passed away this
afternoon. All her family were with her after a hard fought battle with
ovarian cancer. Her services are pending at this time. She is to
be cremated and her ashes strewn at her pre designated places.
The will be memorial services in Hide Away Lake, Texas, where she
presently lived and another in El Paso where she lived for many years.
I know that she would like for all the golfers to go out and take a shot for
her since she was an avid golfer. Thanks for letting our classmates
know that we have lost yet another beautiful classmate.
.....Quick update on
arrangements. My mom wanted to be cremated so that will be taking place
sometime this week. We will be having two memorial services, one in Hideaway
and the other in El Paso. The one in Hideaway should be the week of April
20-24 unsure of exact date yet. For those in El Paso we are still working on
the memorial plans. I promise to keep you all informed. I still answer my
mothers phone if I'm available so if you have any questions please call or
text. Thank you all for your prayers and condolences. All my mothers friends
were so important to her and she loved you all.

From Linda Youse...

"I received this from
Dianne Dumas, Linda Ruth Dumas' sister yesterday evening but didn't read it
until this morning. Linda's death was expected. She has been
fighting COPD and other things for years. I don't know if you ever post
something like this from another class, but thought I would ask. In
case you don't remember, Linda was in the class of 1962."
More information about services will be posted here when finalized.

Don, Please enter my e-mail address in the web page listing for our class. I really appreciate your work in developing and maintaining the web page, especially since I lost my annuals long ago. I seem to often find myself visiting the site to refresh my memory. By the way, I live in Austin and visit San Antonio two to three times a month. I live near Marsha (Clark) Hughes. We occasionally meet at a nearby 'Jim's Restaurant' for a dish of Cinnamon ice cream. Do you know of any others in the area? Wish I could have made it to the 50th reunion. Sure have enjoyed the pictures you posted. Thanks again, Jim Thomas RHS Class of '61

Just got an email
from Bette and she said my email address is incorrect - therefore not getting
some of the emails. My correct address is: mshousewright@cableone.net Was so sorry to hear about
Woody - Raymond, if you have an address for his daughter, would appreciate
your sending it to me - we have been making a donation to the Assurance
Home from our class for those who have passed away and they usually
send an acknowledgement to someone in the family. Thanks - Suzie
02/13/2013 From Raymond Hardin
I am sorry to report that our good friend Woody Beal passed
away on February 1st. Back in September of last year Woody was
told that he had lung cancer and the disease had progressed to
other parts of his body. I last spoke with him on Christmas Eve when he
told me that his doctors had given him about a month to live.
Gale Ayres, wife of Jimmy Ayres, found the notice of Woody's passing in the
San Diego Union Tribune. Thank you Gale for your work.
Woody was one of a kind. There will never be another one
like him. He was the ultimate friend. Like many of you, I will
miss him very much.

Leaving us cash in the amount of $213.00 for the next
reunion. We started with $150.00 from last summer in Ruidoso from
donations so I feel like most all of the money collected from this reunion
will go to the reunion they paid for.
A very nice
surprise...Danny Adams sent a check for Sam Parker for all of his wonderful
music and making our reunion such a success. I mailed it to him
yesterday and told him it was from Danny.

08/08/2011: From Gary
Don, thanks for sending me Ron’s number at the hospital. I talked to him a little
bit ago and he is going home tomorrow. Was going to happen today but he asked
them to stay over until tomorrow for accommodating a transportation situation
for him. He is anxious to get out! Just wanted to update. I don’t have an
email for Dave Woolsey so if anyone has it you might want to let him know
too.
(Anyone know how to contact Dave Woolsey??)
08/08/2011: From Elaine:
Well, the reunion is over, the dust has settled sorta. I’ve quit whining, almost and here are my thoughts:( Assuming you care)
What an outstanding job was done by all! The venue, the entertainment, the
centerpieces, the decorations, the organization were excellent. Also ya’ll clean up pretty good as evident by the pictures!
You may not be able to “ go home again” but you can
certainly enjoy the people you grew up with.
So my observations are:
1. There just wasn’t enough time. I didn’t get to see everyone I wanted to
2. Next time lets just eat
and talk…. Perhaps we’ll play musical chairs to get to talk to everyoneJ
3. Lets give Bette, Suzie,
Paul etc a break and have it somewhere
else…somewhere that you can actually get to (ask Gary and Sharon about their
journey). Currently under discussion is Dallas as it is easy and cheap to get
to. It’s the people, not the place, right?
4. Nothing formal…just whoever can come, come!
5. I did mention we are going to keep on doing this every year, right? Do I
hear an “Amen”?
6. One last observation: Linda L. Weathers and Peggy Whites eyelashes are
still far too long and Gloria (both of them) have
gotten even more beautiful. Where’s the fairness in that?
Oh yeah, our generous benefactor was pleased….hummmm
was she there?
Elaine
08/08/2011 From Jim
Ayres
I attended the reunion and it was absolutely fantastic. Thanks
to all the folks who worked so hard putting it together. All of us reminisced
about the past and created so many memories for the future. Right below the
main menu is the Alma Mater sung by my sister Kay Ayres. What a great
surprise for me. My father (deceased) wrote the RHS Alma Mater, my sister
sang it and I could hear my mother (deceased) in the background accompanying
Kay on the piano. It was such an emotional moment for me. Thanks to Don for
putting it on our website and anyone else who may have had that old 45 RPM
record.
8/07/2011: Just talked to Ron Horton. He is in a
hospital in Houston and expects to be released next week. Frank Horton
is there with him. He really tried to get to reunion. His number
is 832-921-0490
and he would welcome any calls.
08/02/2011: Carol Burk writes...
Thank you for the
update of the reunion. I am sorry I missed it. I was in Crested Butte,
Colorado, and could not get down to Roswell. I am in Eagle Nest, New Mexico,
right now visiting with friends. Will return home around August 15. You are a
good website Builder. I need a website to sell my books on how to
teach students how to love school. I was a retired Special Education
Counselor for many years. I have used my photography as a background for my
books. ... Carol
